KRAKATAU is a movement rooted in humanity, inspired by subculture and technical innovation. The brand is named after the volcano KRAKATAU, symbolizing the unpredictable volatility of nature's elements. The KRAKATAU slogan "antagonist survival kit" embodies the idea of ultimate protection from the elements, starting with cold, rain and wind, and going even further to protect the environment and personal data. KRAKATAU clothing is made from a wide range of innovative materials, such as graphene-based fibers and fabrics laminated with a technical membrane to achieve climbers' level of performance. All designs are complemented by convenient features such as magnetic closures, smart pockets and an inner belt system. Since 2012, their head office has been in Amsterdam.

From Amsterdam to Berlin

Nightingale hosted the Berlin launch of KRAKATAU’s Fall/Winter 22 DAMAGE SUPPRESSOR collection. A temporary one-night space to experience the brand’s collection & aesthetics. We immersed the Berlin crowd into the KRAKATAU universe. The music by Raven, inspiring art and a great crowd set the tone at this private reception.

From Berlin to Amsterdam

KRAKATAU’s DAMAGE SUPPRESSOR collection is all about surviving poor conditions due to climate change. During the Amsterdam launch event we visualized this through Heleen Blanken’s visual art installation HABITAT. The environmental crisis and the destruction of habitats force us to imagine a future in which nature can be remembered in digital form. With visual art, drinks and music we turned the KRAKATAU store at the city center of Amsterdam into an artistic space where fashion and music interplay.

Nightingale was responsible for the international marketing and communication and media relations for both brand activations. From the development of the creative concept to the production and execution of the event. Furthermore, Nightingale handled KRAKATAU’s international seeding campaign, PR  & media relations, event hosting in Berlin and Amsterdam and communication strategy.
